• Earlier detection of clinically significant ketosis
• Improved ER and CDU throughput and efficiency
• Greater precision and sensitivity
• Results captured in your LIS
Quantitative β-Hydroxybutyrate Results
β-Hydroxybutyrate is the main ketone body produced during
ketosis (78%). Traditional nitroprusside methods, however,
detect just 22% of the ketones present.
During ketosis, β-Hydroxybutyrate increases more than the
levels of acetone and acetoacetate.
Quantitative, objective β-Hydroxybutyrate results provide a
better tool for determining and monitoring ketosis.

β-Hydroxybutyrate: Key Benefits and Features:
• Quantifiable results tracked in an LIS system
• Earlier detection of clinically significant ketosis
• Improves ER and CDU throughput
• Enzymatic reaction
• Low cost-per-test
• High sensitivity and precision
• Automated analyser application available
• Uses serum or plasma
• Controls and linearity standards available

Available Applications
The β-HB test is available on over 30 chemistry analyser platforms with downloadable applications. Liquid stable reagents can be used on any open channel analyser. Results can then be captured in a LIS for easy reference.
